The present invention relates to a method for producing a lithium manganese oxide positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, the lithium manganese oxide positive electrode active material being obtained by mixing two or more types of spherical spinel-type lithium manganese oxide particles having different sizes from each other. The method for producing the lithium manganese oxide positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery includes the steps of: uniformly mixing two or more types of manganese oxides having different sizes from each other with a lithium-containing compound; and obtaining lithium manganese oxide by heat treating the obtained mixture.
