To provide a nanofiltration membrane process for producing liquid low DE starch hydrolysates having<about 25 DE and<about 5 polydispersibility index, particularly in their liquid form which are eventually substantially retrogradation free, and have lower viscosity at high dry solids compared to conventional products.
This invention relates to use of an aqueous composition comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, chemically derivatized low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, and hydrogenated low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, for the production of a solid shaped form selected from the group consisting of tablets, caplets, pills, capsules and lozenges or the production of a coated solid form.
