Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a lubricant base oil, which maintains oxidation stability (heat resistance) equal to conventional ones, and is excellent also in weather resistance, and the lubricant base oil.
A method for producing a lubricant base oil includes refining a heavy oil fraction obtained by distilling a crude oil, and subjecting an obtained raffinate to an absorption treatment using a silicate-based absorbent. The lubricant base oil, since being excellent in both heat resistance and weatherability, is suitable for production of various types of lubricants including process oils.
