To provide a lubricating base oil with improved low temperature performance that can replace an expensive synthetic base oil.SOLUTION: A method for producing the lubricating base oil provided by the present invention comprises the steps of: providing a feedstock including a diesel fraction; contacting and dewaxing the feedstock; and recovering the lubricating base oil from a product of the step of contacting and dewaxing.
