Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a m-aramid yarn not containing salts, having excellent mechanical characteristics and thermal properties in an excellent productivity.
SOLUTION: A meta wholly aromatic polyamide comprising a m- phenylenediamine isophthalamide as a main repeating unit is dissolved in an amide-based solvent to give a solution of polymer not containing salts, which is discharged to a coagulation bath composed of an amide-based solvent and water and not containing salts, coagulated as a porous linear body, successively drawn in a plastic drawing bath composed of an aqueous solution of an amide- based solvent, washed with water, heat-treated to produce a dense meta wholly aromatic polyamide yarn substantially not containing salts (inorganic ionic substance) in high productivity/economic efficiency. Such a meta wholly aromatic polyamide yarn having an ultimately low inorganic ion concentration preferably has characteristics not damaging electric characteristics, etc. when used as a substance for electron.
