Abstract:

To provide metal oxide particles comprising two or more sorts of metal oxides and satisfactorily exhibiting respective properties of the metal oxides; and to provide a method for producing the same, and an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst obtained from the metal oxide particles.

The method for producing the metal oxide particles wherein the composition of the center part 1 is different from that of the outer skin part 2 comprises providing sol containing at least first and second colloidal particles having different isoelectric points, respectively, then aggregating the first colloidal particles by bringing the pH of the sol closer to the isoelectric point of the first colloidal particles than that of the second colloidal particles, aggregating the second colloidal particles around the aggregated first colloidal particles by bringing the pH of the sol closer to the isoelectric point of the second colloidal particles than that of the first colloidal particles, and drying and firing the obtained aggregate.
