To provide a method for producing a metallic member for a target where the enlargement of a target material can be facilitated, also, the material is uniform in the sheet thickness direction, width direction and longitudinal direction, and further, annealing after rolling is made needless.
The method for producing a metallic member comprises: a step where high melting point metal powder is packed into a metallic vessel at a bulk density s; a step where the inside of the vessel is made into a vacuum state, and thereafter, it is sealed; and a step where the vessel is rolled at 600 to 1,200C at a rolling ratio of Rs, and, in the case the density of the high melting point metal is o, the rolling ratio Rs is prescribed as Rs={1-(s/o)}100(%), and is controlled to 0.50 to 0.90.
