PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic sheet material having 100% theoretical density ratio by packing metal powder into a metallic container having a projecting part of a trapezoidal shape or the like, hermetically sealing the container, then fitting the container into a metallic frame and subjecting the container to hot rolling, then removing the frame and the container.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic frame 1 made of a mild steel having a rectangular or square shape and the metallic container 2 which is approximately trapezoidal or sectorial in the sectional shape of the part 2b projecting from the frame 1 are prepd. The metal (alloy) powder is packed into such container 2 and after the container is degassed and hermetically sealed, the container is fitted and fixed into the frame 1. The conditions expressed by the equation are satisfied where the volume of the part 2b projecting from the frame 1 is designated as V1, the volume of the part 2a to be housed in the frame 1 as V2, the packing rate of the metal powder as R, and a correction factor as α. The container is hot rolled under such conditions and finally, the frame 1 part and frame 2 part are removed. The metallic sheet material is produced without generating cracking, etc., from the metal powder by the above-mentioned method.
