Abstract:
To make it possible to peel even a relatively large sheet-like titanium metal off a surface of a cathode after the metal is deposited on the surface of the cathode.SOLUTION: A production method of titanium metal includes depositing a titanium metal on a surface of a cathode 3b by electrolysis using an electrode 3 having an anode 3a and the cathode 3b in a molten salt bath Bf. The production method also includes a deposition step in which: the anode 3a containing the titanium metal is used as the anode 3a; the cathode 3b containing 90 mass% or more of molybdenum on the surface thereof is used as the cathode 3b; the temperature of the molten salt bath Bf is 515°C or lower; the electrode 3 is energized with a pulse current whose energization stop period with 1.0 second or more is provided periodically; and the average current density of the cathode 3b during the whole period is 0.01 A/cm2 to 0.10 A/cm2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
