To provide a method for producing a suede leather type microfibrous nonwoven fabric in which the necessary amount of an organic solvent used is reduced to minimum or zero and treatment and recovery of the organic solvent in which cost is high are not required and physical and mechanical properties are not inferior, compared with products of the prior art.
The method for producing the suede leather type microfibrous non-woven fabric comprises (a) a step for spinning a sea-island type bi- component fiber, (b) a step for preparing a felt with the bi-component fiber, (c) a step for carrying out heat-stabilizing treatment of the felt, (d) a step for impregnating the heat-stabilized felt with an aqueous emulsion of polyurethane, (e) a step for fixing the polyurethane to the felt, (f) a step for removing a sea component, (g) a step for re-impregnating the felt with the polyurethane as the aqueous emulsion or in a form of a highly durable solution dissolved in an organic solvent, (h) a step for fixing the polyurethane to the felt and (i) a step for carrying out finishing treatment of the resultant nonwoven fabric.
