Abstract:
To provide a method for producing biocompatible, nonyellowing modified silk retaining the properties inherent in silk material.
This method for producing modified silk comprises modifying silk with a monomer shown by formula (I) [R1 is H or methyl; R2, R3 and R4 are each H, a 1-6C hydrocarbon group or hydroxyhydrocarbon group; R5 is a 1-6C hydrocarbon group; m is the number of R5O recurrence, being 0-8; X is a bivalent organic group; Z is H or R6-O-(C=O) (R6 is H, a 1-10C alkyl or 1-10C hydroxyalkyl) ; and n is 2-4] in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator in an aqueous solution of pH 5-7.
