To provide a method for producing a multialkoxy-substituted aromatic compound which is suitable for mass production and can be used for producing a product of high purity, at a low cost and with high-productivity.
The method for producing a multialkoxy-substituted aromatic compound represented by general formula (I) comprises synthesis by reacting a multihydroxy-substituted aromatic compound represented by general formula (II) with at least a halogenated alkyl in the presence of an inorganic base and a reaction solvent, and addition of a phase-transfer catalyst represented by general formula (IV) in the reaction system, where in the formula (I): Ar represents an n-valent aromatic compound residue, and R represents a 3C-26C hydrocarbon group. n represents an integer of not smaller than 2, in the formula (II): Ar and n are synonymous with the Ar and n in the formula (I), and in the formula (III): X represents a halogen atom or an organic sulfonyloxy group, and R is synonymous with the R in the formula (I).
