To provide a method for producing a negative electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which cubical expansion and breakage of an active material during charge/discharge are suppressed while maintaining high battery capacity of a silicon based active material, and to provide a negative electrode material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the negative electrode active material, and the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
Disclosed is a method for producing a negative electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which is covered with carbon. The method for producing the negative electrode active material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided in which a negative electrode active substance raw material containing at least one of a silicon oxide powder and a silicon powder is covered with carbon using a catalytic CVD method, and a negative electrode material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the negative electrode active material and the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery are provided.
