The method for producing the negative electrode active material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided in which a negative electrode active substance raw material containing at least one of a silicon oxide powder and a silicon powder is covered with carbon using a catalytic CVD method, and a negative electrode material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the negative electrode active material and the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery are provided.
