Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient air separation method having high nitrogen recovery rate and relatively low oxygen recovery rate.
SOLUTION: In the method for producing nitrogen through low temperature distillation in a distillation column system comprising a higher pressure column 103 and a lower pressure column 119, an oxygen rich flow 123 is taken out from the lower pressure column at a supply position to the lower pressure column or below. The oxygen rich flow is fed to an auxiliary distillation column 129 and separated into an oxygen column bottom latter 131 and a waste column top matter 133 which are then fired up and an oxygen flow 131 is taken out, as an oxygen product, from the bottom of the auxiliary distillation column 129.
