To provide a method for industrially more advantageously producing a nitrone compound by reaction between a secondary amine (wherein, at least one of the two carbon atoms bound to the amino group has at least one hydrogen atom) and hydrogen peroxide.
The method for producing the nitrone compound comprises the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with the secondary amine in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst prepared by reaction of hydrogen peroxide with at least one selected from the group consisting of metallic tungsten, metallic molybdenum, a tungsten compound made from tungsten and a group IIIb element, group IVb element, group Vb element or group VIb element except oxygen and a molybdenum compound made from molybdenum and a group IIIb element, group IVb element, group Vb element or group VIb element except oxygen.
