To provide a method of producing olefin oligomers from n-olefin.
A method of producing dimers includes passing a feed material containing at least one n-olefin or a mixture of n-olefin through a catalyst distillation apparatus in which a catalyst layer includes a solid acid catalyst material having a material including a mesopore molecular sieve incorporating an amorphous aluminum silicate and a zeolite with a mesopore surface area of 100 m2/g or more, an aluminum content of 0.2 to 30 wt.% and the amount of acid sites of 50 to 500 μmol/g, recovering the unreacted n-olefin as a subsidiary flow which is combined with the feed material at an upper section of the apparatus, then n-olefin monomers are dimerized at a temperature of 25 to 200°C and a pressure of 0.001 millibars to 50 bars in the presence of the solid acid catalyst as 50% to 95% of n-olefin monomers contact with the catalyst layer more than one time.
