To provide a method for producing optically active 1-phenyl-2-(p-substituted phenyl)ethylamines.
The method for producing the optically active 1-phenyl-2-(p-substituted phenyl)amines is characterized as follows. 1-Phenyl-2-(p-substituted phenyl)ethylamines represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R denotes a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group) are reacted with optically active 2-benzyloxypropionic acids represented by general formula (2) (wherein, * denotes an asymmetric carbon atom; and R1 and R2 denote each independently an aryl group, an aryloxy group or an arylalkyloxy group) in a hydrophobic solvent to deposit a diastereomer salt represented by general formula (3) as a crystal. The resultant diastereomer salt is separated and then treated with an acid or a base.
