Abstract:
To provide a new method for producing an optically active 1,3- propanediol compound useful as an optically active intermediate for physiologically active compounds such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals a chiral assistant group useful for the production of an optically active intermediate for a functional material such as liquid crystal and fine chemicals and as an asymmetric source of an asymmetric ligand.
The method for the production of an optically active 1,3- propanediol compound contains a step to react a 1,3-diaryl-1,3-propanedione compound with a hydride reagent in the presence of an optically active metal compound and an alcohol compound and/or a carboxylic acid.
