To provide a method for producing an optically active 4-amino-3-substituted phenylbutanoic acid, by which the optically active 4-amino-3-substituted phenylbutanoic acid having a sufficient purity can be produced in simpler operations than conventional operations.
Provided is the method for producing the optically active 4-amino-3-substituted phenylbutanoic acid, including a process for purifying the optically active 4-amino-3-substituted phenylbutanoic acid in an aqueous organic acid solution. The organic acid is preferably acetic acid, and the concentration of the aqueous organic acid solution is preferably 0.2-3%. Further, the optically active 4-amino-3-substituted phenylbutanoic acid is preferably (R)-4-amino-3-(4-chlorophenyl)butanoic acid or (S)-4-amino-3-(4-chlorophenyl)butanoic acid.
