Abstract:

To provide a production method suitable for the mass production of an optically active -fluorocarboxylic acid ester which is an important intermediate for pharmaceuticals/agrochemicals and optical materials.

The optically active -fluorocarboxylic acid ester is produced by reacting an optically active -hyldroxycarboxylic acid ester with sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2), trifluoromethane sulfonyl fluoride (CF3SO2F), or nonafluorobutane sulfonyl fluoride (C4F9SO2F) in the presence of an organic base and in the absence of a reaction solvent. More desirably, the optically active -fluorocarboxylic acid ester of a still higher purity can be produced by distillatively purifying the ester after the addition of an acid. According to this method, the optically active -fluorocarboxylic acid ester can be advantageously produced on a large scale.
