This method for producing the organic compound by reacting a substrate in the presence of a catalyst of a cyclic imide-based compound or a cyclic acylurea-based compound, having a cyclic imide skeleton or a cyclic acylurea skeleton and expressed by formulae (I) or (II) [wherein, X is O or -OR (wherein R is H or a protecting group of hydroxy); (n) is 1 or 2, and when (n) is 2, two Gs are each the same or different] is characterized by subjecting the produced organic compound under a rinsing and/or re-pulping treatment to obtain the objective material reduced with the content of the nitrogen-containing impurity.
