Abstract:
To provide a method by which oxathiazines are produced industrially advantageously.
This method produces the oxathiazines expressed by formula (2) by subjecting sulfonic acids expressed by formula (1) to the cyclizing dehydration reaction in the presence of a phosphorus compound containing a halogen and having dehydrating property (e.g. phosphorus halogenides, phosphor oxy halogenides, or the like). In the formulae, (R1 and R2 are each independently H or an organic group inert to the reaction, R3 is H or an organic group inert to the reaction, an organic group which combines with a nitrogen atom to form a salt or an inorganic metal atom; X is H or an organic salt or an inorganic salt which forms a salt with a sulfonate group).
