Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING PHENOL, ACETONE AND METHYLETHYLKETONE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001151710
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for producing phenol, by which the molar production amounts of the phenol and acetone can flexibly be fit to the probably slightly higher demand of the phenol than that of the acetone by a profitable method differently from a cumene method wherein the phenol and the acetone are essentially produced in the same molar amounts, respectively, while actophenone is produced.

This method for producing phenol, acetone and methylethylketone, comprises oxidizing a mixture comprising cumene and s- butylbenzene with molecular oxygen-containing gas and then subjecting the oxidation product to the Hocksche decomposition of the cumene hydroperoxide and the s-butylbenzene hydroperoxide, and is characterized in that the s- butylbenzene is contained in amount of up to 25 wt.% in the mixture comprising the cumene and the s-butylbenzene.
