To provide a method for producing a photographic paper sheet having good smoothness comparable to that of a thick paper sheet, free from surface unevenness caused by the poor dispersion on a wire part even by making the photographic paper sheet at a high speed, having good texture, keeping good sharpness in the thick photographic paper sheets and suppressing the above defects in the thin photographic paper sheets.

The photographic paper sheet is produced by using a paper machine having a wire of a Fourdrinier paper machine and an on-top wire placed on the wire. The speed of the paper machine is set to ≥205 m/min, the slurry concentration is 0.5-2.0 mass%, the vibration frequency is 120-195/min and the amplitude is 8-15 mm immediately after the supply of the slurry to the wire, and the SHAKE NUMBER is 1-30.
