To provide a method for effectively producing plant fuel pellets by which a plant raw material is effectively utilized as thermal energy and which is used as a substitute fuel for coal.
The apparatus for producing the pellets has a quantitatively supplying means for supplying the preliminarily crushed plant raw material and a vertical grinder 32 which is positioned in a downstream area of the quantitatively supplying means, has a rotary grinding table 36 and grinding rollers 40 rotating on an upper surface of the table, and operates to blow a gas from an outer peripheral edge of the rotary grinding table 36. Further, a two-stage classifying rotary separator 44 is positioned in an upper space of the vertical grinder 32 so that a ground material accompanied by the gas is classified into a fine powder component and a coarse powder component, then the coarse powder component is returned to the grinding table 36, and simultaneously the gas containing the fine powder component is discharged. Furthermore, the apparatus has a dust collector 58 which takes out a ground material comprising the fine powder component of the gas separated from the two-stage classifying rotary separator 44 and a pelletizer 62 into which the fine powder component discharged from the dust collector 58 is introduced and which continuously forms the fine powder component into the pellets having a prescribed shape.
