Abstract:
To provide a purification method with which a high purity polyethylene glycol derivative can be highly efficiently obtained with uniform quality, and increase of polydispersity due to increase of thermal hysteresis can be suppressed, and which is industrially feasible.SOLUTION: A polyethylene glycol derivative having one or more selected from a group consisting of a functional group capable of reacting with an organism related substance, a functional group capable of being a precursor of the functional group, and a protective group of the functional group on its terminal, and a crude polyethylene glycol derivative containing an impurity are mixed with a mixed organic solvent consisting of an organic solvent A and an organic solvent B so as to form a slurry. The slurry is repulp washed, next the polyethylene glycol derivative is recovered from the mixed organic solvent, and after the polyethylene glycol derivative is dissolved in a good solvent, the polyethylene glycol derivative is recovered. (When (mass of the organic solvent A)/(mass of the organic solvent A+mass of the organic solvent B) is set to be Y and the temperature during repulp washing is set to be T(°C), Y and T satisfy a following relation: 0.5≤Y×T≤30.)SELECTED DRAWING: None
