Abstract:
To provide processes for producing PHA enabling efficient recovery of highly purified PHA having excellent workability, which methods are also excellent in efficient waste-water treatment.SOLUTION: The invention provides a production process for a polyhydroxyalkanoate comprising the steps of: (a) conducting pulverization or solubilization of microbial cells containing the polyhydroxyalkanoate in the presence of a fatty acid soap; and (b) isolating the polyhydroxyalkanoate from a composition obtained in the step (a), where the fatty acid soap is an alkali metal salt of a fatty acid of a carbon number 8-30, and the fatty acid has a melting point of 30°C or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
