Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a polyhydroxylated fullerene hydrogen sufate having improved protonic conductivity by substituting the hydroxy group with hydrogen sulfate group at a higher degree of substitution in the production of the polyhydroxylated fullerene hydrogen sulfate comprising the treatment of a polyhydroxylated fullerene with fuming sulfuric acid.

The polyhydroxylated fullerene hydrogen sulfate having protonic conductivity is produced by reacting a polyhydroxylated fullerene with fuming sulfuric acid in an inert gas atmosphere at 35-135°C.
