Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing polymer-modified silica, in which a polymer chain can excellently be introduced into the surface of original silica.SOLUTION: The method for producing polymer-modified silica comprises: a first step of reacting silica with a compound shown by formula (1)(in which Rare each a 1-10C alkyl group and at least one of Ris another 1-10C alkyl group having at least one H at α position;Ris a single bond or a 1-10C alkylene group;Xis a halogen atom or a 1-10C hydrocarbyloxy group;Xand Xare each a group selected independently from the group consisting of H, a hydrocarbon group, a halogen atom and a 1-10C hydrocarbyloxy group;n is an integer of 1-5) to obtain surface-modified silica; a second step of reacting the surface-modified silica with an organoalkali metal compound to obtain the surface-modified silica having an active point; and polymerizing the surface-modified silica having the active point and a monomer.
