To provide a method for efficiently producing a polymerizable alkyldiamantyl ester compound useful as a highly functional material such as a heat-resistant polymer, and an electronic material such as a semiconductor resist.

The method for producing the polymerizable alkyldiamantyl ester compound such as 3-methyl-3-diamantyl methacrylate is obtained by converting a 3-diamantanone compound into an alkolate by an alkylating agent such as a Grignard reagent, and reacting the product with a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic anhydride such as methacrylic anhydride to afford the objective polymerizable alkyldiamantyl ester compound such as 3-methyl-3-diamantyl methacrylate. The obtained crude product can be easily recrystallized by using alcohols.
