Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a malodor remaining in a recovered powder and a malodor contained in a waste gas without affecting product performances, etc., and productivity at all in a method for producing a powdery rubber-containing graft copolymer comprising spray-drying an emulsion polymer latex.
SOLUTION: This method for producing the powdery graft copolymer comprises producing a graft copolymer latex by carrying out emulsion polymerization and spray-drying the resultant polymer latex. In the method, at least one kind of hydroperoxide selected from the group consisting of diisopropylbenzene hydroperoxide, 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide, cumene hydroperoxide, t-hexyl hydroperoxide and t-butyl hydroperoxide is used when carrying out the emulsion polymerization.
