Abstract:
The purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a method for producing, from low-molecular-weight polytetrafluoroethylene, refined polytetrafluoroethylene powder in which short-chain fluorine compounds are reduced. The present disclosure is a method for producing refined polytetrafluoroethylene powder from low-molecular-weight polytetrafluoroethylene powder obtained through radical polymerization, the method including a step for reducing short-chain fluorine compounds, where at least compounds represented by general formula (1) are reduced to 179 ppb or less and compounds represented by general formula (2) are reduced to 6900 ppb or less in the abovementioned step. General formula (1): (H-(CF2)m-COO)pM1 (in the formula, m is 3-20, and M1 is H, a metal atom, NR5 4 (where R5 may be the same or different and are H or a C1-10 organic group), imidazolium optionally having a substituent, pyridinium optionally having a substituent, or phosphonium optionally having a substituent. p is 1 or 2.) General formula (2): (H-(CF2)n-SO3)qM2 (in the formula, n is 4-21. M2 is H, a metal atom, NR5 4 (where R5 are the same as above), imidazolium optionally having a substituent, pyridinium optionally having a substituent, or phosphonium optionally having a substituent. q is 1 or 2.)
