Abstract:
To provide a method capable of producing a high-purity R fluoride with no R oxyfluoride formed.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing R fluoride (R is one or more selected from Nd, Pr, Dy and Tb). The method comprises a first heat treatment step of heat-treating a water-containing R fluoride at a first temperature under reduced pressure to obtain an anhydrous R fluoride having a first crystal structure that is hygroscopic, and a second heat treatment step of heat-treating the anhydrous R fluoride having the first crystal structure under reduced pressure or a low oxygen concentration at a second temperature that is higher than the first temperature to obtain an anhydrous R fluoride having a second crystal structure that is not hygroscopic.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
