To provide a method for producing reduced iron by which in the case of producing the reduced iron from iron ore by using a shifting-type hearth furnace, dust containing zinc content in the iron ore with the usable concentration as a zinc-refining raw material, can be recovered as high zinc-containing dust.
When the reduced iron is produced by loading mixed raw materials mixing the iron ore 11 and carbon-series solid reducing material 12 on the hearth of the shifting-type hearth furnace 15 and reducing the mixed raw materials while supplying the heat from the upper part of the hearth and melting no mixed raw materials or only a part thereof; this producing method for reduced iron, is peculiarly used as the followings, that a part of the dust generated in the shifting-type hearth furnace 15, is mixed into the mixed raw materials with a conveyer 21a and circulatedly used, and the remainder of the dust is separated with the conveyer 21b as the high zinc-containing dust. It is desirable that the quantity of the dust separated as the high zinc-containing dust is decided based on the zinc-concentration in the mixed raw materials, or the quantity of the dust separated as the high zinc-containing dust is decided based on the analyzed concentration by analyzing the zinc concentration in the dust generated in the shifting-type hearth furnace.
