To obtain a method for producing reduced iron having high strength and high metallization by regulating the optimum condition to the surface area of a reducing material, in order to enhance the reducing property and using reducing material obtained by a simple method.
In the method for producing the reduced iron by reducing a bulky material containing iron-oxide raw material and reducing material by using a reducing furnace, a first carbonaceous material having specific surface area of 10-300(m2/g) and a second carbonaceous material having specific surface area of <10(m2/g) are mixed and used as the reducing material, and the mass ratio of the first carbonaceous material to be used is 5-50% of the whole reducing material to be used. In this case, it is preferable that the first and the second original materials of the reducing material contain the grains mainly consisting of carbon obtained by drying used products mainly consisting of resin. The used products mainly consisting of the resin include one or more of discarded tires, discarded belts and discarded rubber.
