Abstract:

To provide a method for producing reduced iron, in which thermal efficiency is improved by effectively utilizing combustible exhaust gas generated in a rotary hearth furnace and also, the amount of the exhaust gas is drastically reduced and even low-grade fuel can be used.

In the method for producing the reduced iron by charging reduced iron raw material composed of iron oxide and carbonaceous reducing agent into the rotary hearth furnace 1 and heating the reduced iron raw material to produce the reduced iron, this heating is performed by an indirect heating method 2 in which a combustion gas is not directly brought into contact with the reduced iron raw material, and on the other hand, hearth exhaust gas generated from the reduced iron raw material is cooled in the rotary hearth furnace 1 and successively, a part of the hearth exhaust gas is recovered after removing dust, and it is used as the heat source in the indirect heating method 2.
