To provide an apparatus for producing sheets which can continuously materialize the stable production of the sheets while maintaining a desired thickness distribution.
A raw material is extruded by using a die having a plurality of thickness adjusting means to mold the sheet, and the thickness distribution in the width direction of the sheet is measured. An operation amount to be applied to the thickness adjusting means is obtained on the basis of the measured value. When the sheet is produced while controlling the thickness distribution of the sheet to be a desired thickness distribution by outputting the operation amount to the thickness adjusting means, an operation amount variation portion which gives the extreme value of an evaluation function including the dispersion of the operation amounts applied to the thickness adjusting means and the deviation between the desired thickness distribution and the measured value is obtained, and the operation amount obtained on the basis of the operation amount variation portion is outputted to the thickness adjusting means.
