Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an extract containing a sphingoid base in a manner in which it can be used as a food material, and a food and drink containing the resultant extract, or a functional food.SOLUTION: A method for producing an extract containing a sphingoid base has the following step (1): in which a sphingoid base-containing material is dissolved or dispersed in 0.001-10 M of acidic ethanol or acidic ethanol aqueous solution, and heated at 30°C to 100°C for 30 minutes to several days for acid hydrolysis. The method further has the following step (2): in which the extract obtained by the step (1) is fractionated by extraction with ion exchange resin, supercritical fluid or diatomaceous earth to obtain a sphingoid base.SELECTED DRAWING: None
