To provide a method for producing a steel cord which can provide a steel cord having excellent torsion stability at a low cost for producing a steel cord having a spiral filament.

The method for producing the steel cord includes twisting of a spiral filament 2 around the circumference of a twist cord 1 obtained by twisting a plurality of steel filaments. At least one pulley 15 is placed between a twisting part 12 to entwist the spiral filament 2 around the circumference of the twist cord 1 and a straightener roll 13 to repeatedly apply bending work to the twisted cord 3 obtained by twisting the spiral filament; and the twisted cord 3 is passed through the pulley 15 after twisting and before repeated bending work.
