Title:
METHOD OF PRODUCING SUBSTRATE CARRYING PLATINUM BLACK COATING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS51126337
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
Platinum black coating on a substrate is formed by applying onto the substrate a H2PtCl6 soln., evaporating the solvent and reducing the deposited H2PtCl6 in a reducing atmos. at 50-100 degrees C. Pref. before the redn. several H2PtCl6 layers are applied onto the substrate. The reducing atmos. pref. contains H2, opt. in mixt. with an inert gas. The substrate can be alumina, carbon, stainless steel or a polymer. The platinum black produced by this method is used as catalyst for decompsn. of H2O2 used for disinfection of soft contact lenses. Substrates having even a complex shape can be uniformly coated with a firmly adhering platinum black layer. The thickness of the coating can be accurately controlled.
