To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing a terminally unsaturated alcohol useful as an intermediate for polyolefin modifiers, various chemicals including polymer raw materials, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and perfumery.

The method for producing the terminally unsaturated alcohol of general formula(2)( wherein, X, R1 and R2 are each the same as defined below ) comprises hydrogenating the corresponding terminally unsaturated allyl alcohol of general formula(1)[ wherein, X is a (substituted) hydrocarbon group; and R1 and R2 are each H or an alkyl ] in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst under a pressure of 0.01-0.4 MPa.
