To provide an efficient method for producing a thermoplastic polyhydroxyurethane resin from a cyclic carbonate compound, which can be synthesized using carbon dioxide as one of raw materials, and an amine compound without using an isocyanate, wherein the thermoplastic polyhydroxyurethane resin simultaneously has sufficient strength and flexibility required for industrial materials, such as a molding material or a binder for coatings, and not obtained by conventional technologies.
In the production method for obtaining the thermoplastic polyhydroxyurethane resin, when obtaining the thermoplastic polyhydroxyurethane resin using five-membered cyclic carbonate compounds and a multifunctional amine compound, two kinds of specific cyclic carbonate compounds having two five-membered cyclic carbonate groups in one molecule and partially different structure are used at a specific ratio and are reacted with the multifunctional amine compound in a molten state at 80-200°C.
