Title:
METHOD OF PRODUCING TOOL MADE OF TOOL STEEL COATD WITH HARD MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5472587
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent chipping off of a tool during cutting work, by removing beforehand the burr and buckling.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of a cutting tool from a tool steel, the tool having a coating of hard material at least on the portion constituting the cutting edge, the buckling or burr 4 around the point of intersection of the cutting edge 3 and the marging 2 formed as a result of a processing of the substrate tool steel are removed, before the coating of the hard materal is formed. The desired cutting tool is then formed by a subsequent coating of the substrate tool steel with the hard material. This effectively prevents undesirable chipping off of a part of the tool during the cutting work.
