Abstract:

To provide a method by which cyclopropylcarbamidine hydrochloride can economically and industrially advantageously be produced in a favorable yield.

The production method for cyclopropylcarbamidine hydrochloride represented by formula (II) comprises: (1) reacting cyclopropanecarbonitrile with an alcohol represented by formula (I) (wherein R is alkyl) and hydrogen chloride; (2) adding an organic solvent having hydrogen chloride solubility lower than that of the above alcohol to the obtained reaction mixture to remove unreacted hydrogen chloride by distillation; and (3) bringing the resulting residual material into contact with ammonia.
