Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH STRENGTH HYPEREUTECTIC CAST IRON HAVING SUPERIOR ABRASION RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001276962
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To produce hypereutectic cast iron having superior mechanical properties and abrasion resistance.

In the amid of cooling and solidifying process, molten hypereutectic cast iron metal is stirred when it comes down to the state of semi-solidification (down below the liquidus but well above the solidus) so that the initial graphite and eutectic structures precipitated out of the molten metal can be cracked and dispersed into the metal. Molten metal is continually stirred until its temperature falls down to or a little above the eutectic temperature zone for three elements, i.e., Fe, C and Si. When molten metal temperature comes equal to or a little above said triple element eutectic temperature zone, cooling is immediately begun.
