There is provided the method for prognosis of driving behavior of the preceding vehicle by a motor vehicle control device of the vehicle which runs the back of the preceding vehicle. First of all, the actual position each time of the preceding vehicle is obtained from the actual position each time of the vehicle which runs the back of the preceding vehicle and the actual interval each time to the preceding vehicle by the motor vehicle control device of the vehicle which runs the back of the preceding vehicle. The motor vehicle control device of the vehicle which runs the back of the preceding vehicle obtains the characteristic value of the preceding vehicle from the traveling road information that suits to the actual position each time of the preceding vehicle, and the dynamic travel information of the preceding vehicle obtained on the actual position each time of the preceding vehicle. Then the state of traveling of the preceding vehicle is prognosticated from the characteristic value of the preceding vehicle and the traveling road information of the traveling road in front of the preceding vehicle by the motor vehicle control device of the vehicle which runs the back of the preceding vehicle.
