Abstract:
PURPOSE: To control the alveolar osteoclasis by administering a benzo-C- phenanthridine alkaloid compound to a mammalian having a periodontal disease at a dose for inhibiting osteoclasis and collagenase release. CONSTITUTION: This method for inhibiting the osteoclasis and collagenase release of a mammalian comprises administering a benzo-C-phenanthridine alkaloid compound. The benzo-C-phenanthridine alkaloid can be extracted from the plants of families Papaveracease, fumariaceae and Berberidaceae, and includes sanguinarine and sanguinarine pseudoethanolato. The sanquinarine or the sanquinarine pseudoethanolato is administered at a dose of 1-20μ mole/L or 0.2-20μmol/L, respectively.
