This method for purifying 1,1-difluoroethane is a method for removing the hydrogen halide from 1,1-dufluoroethane containing the hydrogen halide as the impurity to be purified, and is characterized by comprising a first process of removing the hydrogen halide by bringing the 1,1-difluoroethane containing the hydrogen halide into contact with an aqueous alkali solution and a second process of removing water content by bringing the 1,1- difluoroethane from which the hydrogen halide is removed, into contact with a drying agent.
