PURPOSE: To use an aq. soln. of N-methyl-morpholine N-oxide as a complete fresh soln. for cellulose spinning by bringing the aq. soln. into contact with an anion exchanger contg. specified functional groups and separating the purified aq. soln. from the anion exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of N-methyl-morpholine N-oxide to be purified, in particular a spinning bath soln. incurred in the production of a cellulose product is brought into contact with an anion exchanger contg. quat. tetraalkylammonium groups of the formula -CH2H+(CH3)3X- or -CH2 N+[(CH3)2(CH2OH)]X- (where X- is an anion of an inorg. or org. acid) as functional groups and the purified aq. soln. is separated from the anion exchanger. The anion exchanger is regenerated with an acidic aq. soln. and the anion X- is derived from a volatile acid, in particular carbonic acid, formic acid or acetic acid. The purified aq. soln. is concd. and used for preparing a fresh soln. for cellulose spinning.
