Abstract:
PURPOSE: To purify cholic acid in excellent purification efficiency, in high yield and industrially.
CONSTITUTION: Crude cholic acid is dissolved or suspended in an organic solvent and a basic amine is added to the solution or suspension. Precipitated cholic acid is separated from a mixture of cholic acid and the basic amine salt. The mixture is further dissolved in a large amount of water, mixed with a diluted sulfuric acid and the salt is made into a free acid to purify the crude cholic acid.
